Kerrang! in collaboration with Music Venue Trust / The National Lottery Presents…Conjurer.”
“We’re pleased to announce that we’ve teamed up with @kerrangmagazine_, The National Lottery @TNLUK and @MusicVenueTrust for a #UnitedByMusic show with Conjurer! Tickets are on sale on Friday 10th August.
Support your grassroots venues. Be united by music. Buy a ticket to any of the shows and bring a friend for FREE (with any Lotto Product). T+C’s apply.
As the band prepares for their upcoming Kerrang!-sponsored tour with Rivers Of Nihil, Entheos, and Wolf King, it looks like Conjurer are set to shift from UK sweethearts to international underground sensations — a fact made all the more impressive given that the band’s sound, while compelling, is in no way typical, or easy to pigeonhole. In fact, other than exciting, powerful, and bleak as hell, what does one even call Conjurer?
“I would like us to be called non-specific UK metal,” laughs Conjurer drummer Jan Krause. “It’s certainly more accurate than specific metal. Honestly, [our sound] was an accident — when Dan and Brady [Deeprose, vocals] started to write, they just went with what they wanted to write, and that became our EP. And as we began to write more and more, and you had more people sticking their oar in, it became this huge amalgam of all our thoughts and ideas.”
“I’d settle for ‘UK-based riff music of the shouty sort,’” says guitarist Dan Nightingale. “We respect bands like Will Haven and Yob, who go with the sad heavy. I remember when [Will Haven’s] Voir Dire came out, there was a bit of mystery and spookiness to that, and I liked that. A lot of bands hate labeling themselves, but we kind of wanted to, just for the Facebook page and stuff like that. But we’ve never really known what to call it.” –Kerrang

Din of Celestial Birds https://linktr.ee/docbirds
Fast rising stars of the UK post-rock scene, Din of Celestial Birds are fresh off the stage from a successful debut at ArcTanGent festival. The band will be promoting the release of their debut albumThe Night is for Dreamers,Recently released through A Cheery Wave Records (UK) & A Thousand Arms Music (USA). The album has been met with rave reviews, with Noizze stating:
“A record of pure human emotion, The Night Is For Dreamers is quite frankly a stunning body of work that directly dispels the notion that post-rock is a genre reserved for awkward and po-faced stoicism.”
The band will be celebrating the release of their debut album’s release by playing The Night is for Dreamersin full.
Indifferent Engine https://www.indifferentengine.com/
The band are inspired by early hardcore, art punk, post-rock, ambient music, pulp science fiction and outdated electronics.Started as a solo project of front man Adam Paul, Indifferent Engine have been operating as a full band since 2019. Indifferent Engine have gigged extensively since, featuring the largest rig of obsolete CRT TVs still in regular use in the UK live scene.
Bathed in the soft glow of TV static, cut open by Adam’s stage presence – part Mark E. Smith-esque monologue, part fitful screams – the band vents a nervous energy designed to unsettle the audience. Sets are a weaving of ambient synths and samples between frantic post-hardcore tracks. All of this leads to an intense and engaging live show with a critical visual component, more akin to a piece of performance art or a real-time therapy session.
The band’s latest release (Canis EP, 2021) was recorded in a derelict farmhouse between the lockdowns of 2020 and released in January 2021. A combination of nervous DIY hardcore and introspective post-metal, Canis serves as a mission statement for the bands future output.
Indifferent Engine’s obsession with obsolete technology has led to the production of DIY pedals, cassette worship, and hacked electronics. This includes a fully open-source, 3D printable tape delay which has captured the attention of musicians and producers across Instagram.

HELVE
5 piece Post-Metal/Doom band based in Leeds.
Helve’s incorporate the heavier elements of Sludge/Doom genres mixed with more ambient/soundscape sections akin to the Post-Metal bands such as Rosetta, Cult of Luna, ISIS.
Their first full length album ‘To be forgotten’, has been a labour of love to try and encapsulate the live sound and feel they have honed over the years. There is a strong emotional feel to the lyric content, drawing on personal experiences accompanied by carefully constructed music that rises and falls to create a journey.
“Dense and often dirty post metal that gnaws at your flesh while at the same time comforting you through its spirited and soul-stirring breakdowns. It’s harsh and its melancholic and it’s bloody brilliant”.

Halloween comes a day earlier with a extreme night of Doomy Death Metal from local barbarians Terra, and Birdwitch from Norwich
Wednesday 30th October from 7.30pm
£10 On The Door
Terra are one of the most intangible and enigmatic presences to emerge from within the UK underground music scene in recent times. The Cambridge-based Atmospheric black metal trio, have worked dedicatedly to carve an atypical niche for themselves with their uncompromising musicality. Terra, find their creative self-possession through a sonic delivery that is as primal as it is serene, as mesmerizing as it can be suffocating. Saturating the listener in a miasma that serves to reach into the core of you, and communicate a shared experience of existentiality. (https://terra.band/music)
Alongside Terra are doomgaze band Birdwitch, who Birdwitch have been making a name for themselves since their dynamic, ethereal debut show and their first single release earlier this year
