Steve Drewett (NEWTOWN NEUROTICS), Allegra Shock Band, Control and The Werecats

ababoonsassSteveDrewettSinger/songwriter/guitarist of 1980’s punk rock legends The Newtown Neurotics plays a super rare acoustic show in Cambridge. The Newtown Neurotics were/are an incredibly important band mixing Ramones style hook-laden punk with socio-political issues. Addressing topics such as racism, sexism, unemployment, right-wing governments and bully boys, the band towed a path of common-sense politics and everyman/woman on the street thinking… speaking out against injustice, double standards, lying and lack of respect. All backed with a super-melodic and powerful soundtrack that put Harlow, Essex firmly on the punk rock map.

They do play the odd gig here and there (including a highy-enjoyable Cambridge show several years ago) and Steve has only just recently completed a tour of South America with various long-distance friends and contacts backing him as a full band. The blog he wrote as he went ab out this journey is a damn fine read and well worth searching for… http://stevedrewett.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/all-you-need-is-love_9.html
The first confirmed support is Allegra Shock, now Allegra has played Cambridge twice in the past two years, once acoustically and then with a band… both shows were fantastic and so I am very pleased to have Allegra back in town.

Support acts have now been confirmed… The Werecats (formally The Darkies) are playing their first ever Cambridge show… featuring Ci Ci from The Pukes… this should be a fun set a raucous punk rock n roll. Cambridge’s very own Control are back gigging after a line up change that now see Beverley Kills guitarist Kate on bass duty. This is the new format’s first outing…

The Last Gang In Town crew are going to be DJ-ing before, between and after the acts… so top tuneage from the off.
