Combining her sultry voice and electric guitar to create rock songs infused with blues and soul, Mary Spender’s songwriting showcases her virtuosic style of guitar playing as well as her wide vocal range.
Mary has amassed over 79 million views on her YouTube channel with over 690k subscribers watching her weekly videos on life as a 21st century musician. Predominantly targeted towards guitarists and singer/songwriters, she both shares her own experiences and interviews prominent artists such as Cory Wong, Santana, KT Tunstall and James Valentine of Maroon 5. Mary has found an interactive community who are incredibly supportive of her work and allow her to release music as an independent artist – no label, no middlemen, just true fans.
In March 2021 Mary wrote, recorded and released John Mayer’s new track ‘Last Train Home’ before he did, responding to a snippet he released on Instagram. The video went viral and caught the attention of Mayer himself, who invited Mary to hear the finished track before anyone else.
In 2022 she released ‘Songbook Volumes 1 & 2’, a double album of new material funded by fans through Patreon.
A fully produced studio album of fan favourites, titled Super. Sexy. Heartbreak was released in October 2023.

Cambridge’s very own Psychedelic Modrockers PHOENIX ROAD write, record and perform superb original songs with a classic late 60’s vibe..
Intricate tales of love, loss, life and death are woven with scathing commentary on today’s political landscape and put to music, with insanely catchy melodies, three part harmonies, heavy guitars and a rock solid rhythm section.
Two studio albums have been recorded and released on Alley Club Records and 2023/24 will see more releases and live shows.
The PHOENIX ROAD sound really is very much their own, but you may be able to hear shades of early Velvet Underground, Kinks, Who, Stones – alongside a sprinkling of Supergrass and a twist of Norther Soul.
This show has been cancelled by the promoter. Ticket holders will receive a refund.
The Alley Club Presents… 2 Tone – 45th Anniversary DJ Night
WOW! Has it really been 45 years? Yes! And the 2 Tone Record label led the way in the late ’70’s Ska/Reggae Revival.
Come and celebrate the best genre of music there is! Enduring, easy to join in and dance to and FUN, 2 Tone music still leads the way!
(yes, the label was so influential to so many people, that it’s become known as a genre of music,
similar to Blue Beat, Tamla Motown and Stax/Atlantic).
DJs Sawty, Ska Bar Steve & Gonzo will be playing the best in ORIGINAL 2 Tone and Ska Revival on original. chunky and sometimes crackly vinyl, with an emphasis on Madness, The Specials, The Selecter, The Beat, Bad Manners, The Bodysnatchers and many, many more!
Also, expect sounds by associated bands such as UB40, The Equators and more!
This is the music that paved the way for a third wave of Ska (mixed with more Punk) popular in the USA and
many UK artists such as Amy Winehouse etc.
Don’t forget The Alley Club goes Mod (@ The Portland ofcourse!) on 8th Nov ’24 with the truly amazing, young Nottingham band Sharp Class. They could be bigger than The Jam!
Vanessa Forero is back for her second tour of the year, having sold-out her last 16-date tour in May.
She’ll be leaving her jungle mountain home in Colombia again, this time to unite with ‘The Vines’ to bring you a night of big melody, soul-filled songs. Forero was recently featured on Ben Fogle’s ‘New Lives in the Wild’ and the pair performed their duet song live at her double sell-out show in London.
Fogle said about the show: “Vanessa had us all in the palm of her heart”. And the Director said: “Been a long time since I left a show feeling so great about life”.
So grab your tickets quick to join in a colourful, intimate night of South-Americana songs & wild stories.
