Appraised with extraordinary potential and relentless energy, Planet 9 tares 60s blues-rock into the pop scene – blended with modern & 80s funk, concocted into the euphoric phantasmagoria of this original band. Enrapturing audiences across London, Colchester, Braintree and Cambridge, the lineup consists of lead guitarist Zac Potter, thrusting wicked Hendrix-like Rock’n’Roll runs; bass guitarist Ivan Bosch, thundering his whip-like pounding of slap bass; the diesel-fuelled unrelenting engine of punk drummer Owen Herd, and billows of smoking Blues keys and vocals of Noah Bennell.

Culminating in deep-rooted groove, Planet 9 WELCOMES you to join us on our space odyssey of musical ecstasy…

Accompanying them on this thrill filled evening will be Cambridge band competition finalists Hardrive along with silly Colchester punk band Beneath the River and and young emerging talents Euphony.

The Alley Club Presents… 2 Tone – 45th Anniversary DJ Night
WOW! Has it really been 45 years? Yes! And the 2 Tone Record label led the way in the late ’70’s Ska/Reggae Revival.
Come and celebrate the best genre of music there is! Enduring, easy to join in and dance to and FUN, 2 Tone music still leads the way!
(yes, the label was so influential to so many people, that it’s become known as a genre of music,
similar to Blue Beat, Tamla Motown and Stax/Atlantic).
DJs Sawty, Ska Bar Steve & Gonzo will be playing the best in ORIGINAL 2 Tone and Ska Revival on original. chunky and sometimes crackly vinyl, with an emphasis on Madness, The Specials, The Selecter, The Beat, Bad Manners, The Bodysnatchers and many, many more!
Also, expect sounds by associated bands such as UB40, The Equators and more!
This is the music that paved the way for a third wave of Ska (mixed with more Punk) popular in the USA and
many UK artists such as Amy Winehouse etc.

Don’t forget The Alley Club goes Mod (@ The Portland ofcourse!) on 8th Nov ’24 with the truly amazing, young Nottingham band Sharp Class. They could be bigger than The Jam!

The Alley Club presents… Mod Night – Sharp Class live

Sharp Class are a British power-trio inspired by iconic artists like The Clash, The Who, and The Specials. Their music is a fusion of Punk, Soul, Power-Pop, Brit-Pop, and Rock ‘n’ Roll. The band released their debut album ‘Tales Of A Teenage Mind’ in 2023. The trio consists of Oliver Orton on guitar and vocals, Billy Woodfield on bass and vocals and Declan Mills on drums. Their onstage performances are electrifying and captivating and their catchy power-pop-laden guitar music is delivered with ease.

Wherever Sharp Class go, they always deliver an exciting performance. In May 2023, the group travelled to the USA to take part in a series of concerts. Their three-night run included shows in Rhode Island, Portland, and Somerville, each of which showcased the unparalleled dynamism of the trio to international audiences.
