Joshua Burnell

Hailing from York, Joshua Burnell & his 6-piece folk-rock band have shaken the world of folk music with their epic fantasy ballads and fiddle tunes bolstered with the swirling distortion of the Hammond organ. Join them for their tour promoting the brand new album: Songs From The Seasons.
For any followers of folk or rock, this is not an event to be missed.

“This was excellent stuff. They would go down at storm at Cropredy… Burnell and the band deserve all the success they get.” – York Press.

“I’m willing to bet the live tour will be great.” – Songlines Magazine.

Joshua’s previous album, Into the Green, was met with overwhelmingly positive reviews – ‘A giant of an album that should be on everybody’s summer listening.’ (Liverpool Sound And Vision) – and to follow it up, Joshua set himself his most challenging project yet: to release a folk song every week for a year.

The idea behind the ambitious Seasons Project was for Joshua to arrange, record and release a traditional folk song every week to form four seasonal albums. Annie Haslam, from the symphonic rock band Renaissance, has provided four stunning pieces of artwork (one for each season) and over 25 local musicians have featured on the project. As of the 13th December, the project came to a successful conclusion, after earning the Highly Commended Best Performing Artist award at the York Culture Awards. Shortly following this, a live performance of some of the material gained an overwhelming majority of audience votes at the Great British Folk Festival and Joshua and his band were announced as the winners. The album has since earned glowing 4-star reviews in The Sun & Songlines Magazine and a 5-star review in Rock ‘n’ Reel Magazine, with many more to follow.

After what has been a momentous year, Joshua Burnell has selected 14 of the strongest tracks from the Seasons project to form his next major release – Songs From The Seasons. Book your tickets now to join Joshua Burnell & his band as they bring the live show to Cambridge
