FLOWER-CORSANO DUO

A much welcome and long-overdue return to Cambridge for the unique and unmissable pairing of Mick Flower and Chris Corsano.

Formed in 2005, this duo melds the propane-lit, overdriven drone-ragas of MICHAEL FLOWER’s electrified shahi baaja and the truly extraordinary free drumming of CHRIS CORSANO. In the years since, they have toured and recorded together when their other commitments allow, delivering an ecstatic onslaught of free sound that shifts seamlessly between tumultuous intensity and blissed-out serenity. With a combined pedegree taking in the likes of the Vibracathedral Orchestra, MV & EE, Sunburned Hand of the Man, Rangda, Bjork, Bill Orcutt, Joe McPhee, Paul Flaherty and an army of other outfits, the pair are an essential conduit between the parallel worlds of psychedelic noise-rock and contemporary free jazz.

THE PLANK / PLANKESTRA

The Plank or Plankestra are an improvising quartet emerging from the Norwich & Norfolk Sonic Arts Collective (NNSAC), and featuring trumpet, electronics, percussion, clarinet, and guitar. Regular performers at the collective’s Plink Plonk night alongside the likes of Steve Noble, Kit Downes, John Butcher and Alan Wilkinson, the ensemble delivers a playful, abstract and highly textured variation on free improv.
